My First NYFW

Before moving to New York I would run to social media to view the recaps of New York Fashion Week and see all the street fashions. Now to be here and experience it, I am hooked and already plotting for next season! I started my experience off by attending the NADRI Jewelry preview with my cousin. They showed off their latest pieces with champagne, light bites, hand massages and what I enjoyed thoroughly, an aura reading. In my reading she said that I have the tools and should stop doubting myself amongst a few other things. It could’ve been a general reading that’s told to just about everyone but in that moment I could totally relate.

Next we headed to a Charlotte Tilbury event! The event was very interactive with panels, photo opps, a makeup studio, the best spritzer I have ever had, and light bites. I saw a bunch of the popular influencer it girls and guys and the party was fun overall. Most importantly I received some free products…a bunch actually! For my look because the summer is still summering, I decided to where this pink dainty top and keep it simple with some flare jeans, heels and a silver metallic bag.

The next day it was time for the Essence Fashion House. When I tell ya’ll the people understood the assignment! They were serving with the looks okay! The event was such really great. I enjoyed the panels, there were free cocktails, photo opps, and a marketplace to shop some designers. I definitely left feeling inspired. For my look I went with an oldie but goodie top that I have had for a few years from ASOS and a maxi denim skirt with heels.

The following day, I headed out to The Folklore Connect’s Showroom where I discovered so many Black Luxury Designers. The items were so bomb. The quality was up there and a lot of the pieces were affordable. There were also some that were size inclusive which I was shocked and pleased all at the same time. Here are the designers, check them out! AAKS, edas, Chee Lee Designs, Elexiay, Israella Kobla, Kadiju, Oríré, Rendoll, The Lulo Project, RP New York, SELFI, SHEKUDO, V. BELLAN, Wisdom, and Tejahn Burnett.

I then headed to the Pier to check out J Crew’s interactive event. They were celebrating 40 years. They gave out free beverages, pretzels, swag and a candle that smells delightful. On Monday, I ended my experience with a fashion preview by RP New York. I connected with the designer at the Showroom and she invited me to her fashion preview. Overall I had an amazing Fashion Week and can’t wait to see what the winter will look like! Thanks for reading!
